Friends of ELIYA-USA to Honor Roy and Julia Weinstein
July 2010
ELIYA, the Israel Association for the Advancement of Blind and Visually Impaired Children, the principal organization in Israel providing specialist programs to meet the needs of preschool blind and visually impaired children, announced plans to honor Roy and Julia Weinstein for their community service work at a dinner to be held on Sunday, November 14 at the Skirball Cultural Center.
ELIYA’s mission is to provide educational and therapeutic programming for children in Israel up to the age of three who are blind or visually impaired and who may have additional disabilities. This programming enables these children to acquire the skills they will need to survive in a general classroom. ELIYA is now considered a leading center of its kind in the world.
Roy Weinstein is the co-founder of Micronomics, a Past President of University Synagogue and serves on ELIYA’s Board of Directors. His wife, Julia, is Sisterhood President at University Synagogue, a member of West Side Guild of Children’s Hospital and Past President of the Wellesley Club of Los Angeles. Both are active in community organizations and volunteer work.
