Micronomics was created in 1988 to provide thoughtful economic research and consulting services to public and private entities and government agencies. Initially, our engagements focused on antitrust, regulatory economics, and oil and gas leasing, but over time, service offerings were broadened to include issues relating to intellectual property, sports and entertainment, employment litigation, surveys and statistical analyses and real estate.
Our consultants have provided expert testimony in more than 30 states and worked directly with clients in Canada, Europe, Taiwan, S. Korea, Japan and Australia. While a number of consultants and staff members have chosen to spend their professional life at Micronomics, others have gone on to obtain advanced degrees at some of our country's finest academic institutions, after which they pursued careers in law, accounting, and investment banking.
Looking ahead at the next 25 years, our commitment to the rigorous application of economic theory, our staff and our clients remains unchanged. As the legal and institutional environment changes, we stay at the cutting edge. When the case law for establishing patent damages called for a higher standard, we authored a series of papers suggesting scientific ways of making the kinds of calculations demanded. As the volume of transactional data and related information grew to previously unimaginable levels, we acquired the tools necessary to process and understand these data. As disputes become more multi-national in scope, we continued to expand our international practice. What remains constant is our belief that economics is a powerful tool for understanding that guides observers through complex realities of market activities to answers about what happened and why.
