introducing
micronomics
Micronomics
is a professional service firm.
We undertake economic research to find answers to complex questions faced by our clients. Our dedication and uncompromising focus on quality set us apart.
We believe economics is a science.
It is not a matter of personal perspective, preference or belief. Applied correctly, economics yields one correct answer from any given set of facts. Economics should not lend credence to wildly opposite conclusions from the same circumstances.
Economics is a powerful tool for understanding.
It can guide the observer through complex realities of market activity to answers - what happened and why? Economics is not a cloak to obscure common sense, beat down intuition or force wrong answers on the ill-informed. When correct and properly presented, economic conclusions have compelling logic even for the non-economist. The right answers are easy to see and hard to avoid.
Economic research does not take place in the
laboratory.
Uncontrolled experiments, imperfect and incomplete data and a host of simultaneous influences are the rule, not the exception. Economic research therefore requires a thorough understanding of economic theory, an awareness of the strengths and weaknesses of various methods, and experience with real-world data. One cannot blindly apply formulas borrowed from academic texts. Nor can one blithely reach conclusions from unfamiliar data. Because we understand these limitations, we are careful and thorough.
Economic research requires the education,
professional training and experience of good economists.
Without qualified, professional direction, economic research may become an exercise in paper shuffling, endless number crunching, or self-deception. Micronomics' professional staff shares aptitude, respect and dedication for the science of economics and for problem solving. Our economists have years of experience in practical economic research. Their focus is on identifying and following the most direct route to the correct answer.
Economic research is often complex.
Good research requires proper resources. Extensive computer capabilities, specialized research libraries and online data retrieval capabilities are the tools required by economists to find answers. Without the right tools, research may become little more than hypothesis and conjecture. Micronomics' computer, library and data management facilities are specifically designed to meet the demands of economic research.
Micronomics
also is a consulting firm. We believe consulting means communication. Our clients must understand what we are doing and why. They should understand the economics of the issues they face. They should understand our answers. There is nothing in the science of economics which makes communication about economic research inherently incomprehensible. If our clients don't understand, it reflects either poor research or poor communication. Whether it be written reports, testimony, oral presentations or brief telephone conversations regarding progress of our work, clear, concise communication is our goal. We believe this is why most of our clients work with us again and again. | ||
